Max Gerbier was born in Milo on September 10, 1951. He started to paint at the Centre d'Art in 1973. He is from the workshop of Philome Obin after the encouragement of Harrison Obin. His paintings often tells a story. His art is cited in some Haitian art book namely "Haiti Voodoo Kingdom to modern Riviera" by John Allen Franciscus & Peintres Haitiens by Gerald Alexis: " Respectful of the traditions of Le Cap, Gerbier depicts daiy life in a vigorous idiom and remains true to life."
