Someone once said, "If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans" Our plan was to have the 2010 conference in Haiti, but that seems like a bad idea now, based on reports from ground zero. June 11 The HAS conference will open with a garden party 6:00-11:00pm for the Hyppolite exhibition at the Museum of Americas/Organization of American States in the evening. Although this event is ticketed at $75 ($100 after June 1) -- HAS conference participants may attend for $50 with advance registration. HAS members can also purchase tickets through their registration when they call the number for Waterloo Center for the Arts. for other tickets to the garden party gala see www.has-dc.org

Conferences consist of symposiums, private tours of homes & museums, social gatherings & sometimes fundraisers. There have also been regional HAS gatherings in San Francisco and Washington. Click this link to see over 70 photos of a very special HAS event that was held in Washington DC, November 19, 2005 -- www.puertoricans.com/FESTIVAL/nov222005 Over 100 Haitian Art enthusiasts including Haitian Ambassador The Honorable Raymond Joseph, Haitian Art Society President Larry Kent and other supporters, gathered at the Haitian Embassy in Washington D.C. on November 19, 2005 to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the Centre D'Art in Port-Au-Prince. Also attending were Georges Remponeau, a co-founder of the Centre D'Art, and his daughters Elsie and Rachel. Mr Remponeau received a special commendation for his efforts in establishing the historic center. The event was sponsored by the President of the Haitian Art Society Washington Metropolitan Chapter Mr Fritz Racine and his wife Gladys .
